PICHULIK DESIGNED BY KATHERINE-MARY PICHULIK
Contemporary urban design inspired by the Islamic architecture of Mali, the Sahara desert and the vivid colors of an African market.
Each PICHULIK piece combines rope with unique found materials, such as fossilized pieces from Niger, brass trade beads from West Africa, Ethiopian recycled glass and Ghanaian agate, all intricately handcrafted by a team of women in Cape Town.
SUSTAINABLE: Products are made from 90% African materials. PICHULIK repurposes all the nylon rope it uses.
LOCAL JOB CREATION: PICHULIK purposely employs women and out-sources to small businesses, to help promote job creation and economic activity in local communities.
AFROCENTRIC: PICHULIK provides unique, innovative designs that are Afrocentric and an alternative to mass-produced “African” curios imported from China.
